Emissions: West Coast Bass Culture Festival & Camp? Fundraiser (MAY 11-13th)

It's time once again to gather in the forests of California and dance in the trees at the 'Really Really Good' festival. This year Camp Questionmark and Irie Cartel are bringing to the stage well over 100 of the most progressive names in future bass, dubstep, hip-hop, glitch-hop, mid-tempo, and every other sub-genre of bass heavy bliss.

Providing you with 3 days of non-stop sonic serenades from 2+ stages unleashing the most satisfying styles of 2012. Lighting artists, stage artists, visual artists, alter creators, crafters, fire dancers, and so much more, are collaborating to mesmerize your eyes and enhance this event for your inevitable transcendence.

Beyond the boom, the entire event will feature alternative forms of interaction and creative exploration. Huge art displays, alters & installations, 'The Future of Bass' experimentation area. The 'Community Centered' area, complete with low-fi sound, chill melodic beats, tea house, & hookah sitting area. Community workshops scattered throughout the weekend on everything from art lessons to online music marketing skills. Unique artists & vendors will be set up in the central area the entire weekend displaying their contributions to the family. All taking place in a beautiful clearing within an oak tree forest, creating a perfect fusion of nature and technology.

Emissions is a community event dedicated to bringing the electronic bass tribe together to celebrate our ever growing and evolving culture. We want the festival to be enjoyed for what it provides as a complete event, rather than label it a fundraiser. But would like our commnity to know that it is a hopeful fundraiser for the sound camp. We are not here to force our beliefs on you, but to facilitate you enjoying yours. Come prepared to get down with the crew while making west coast bass culture history.

ANdroid JOnes opening at Blowfish Sushi 5.15

2170 Bryant Street, San Francisco

Blowfish Sushi is proud to present an exhibition of the digital art of Android Jones, opening on Tuesday, May 15 from 6-9 PM.

This is the second in a series of exhibits of 2D work by Burning Man regulars, curated by LadyBee. 20% of the profits will be donated to the Black Rock Arts Foundation.

Android Jones is at the forefront of the visionary art movement, a wave of artists who emphasize creativity as the foundation of consciousness and an agent of social change. As a digital alchemist, Android builds on the technical developments of past centuries in art history while pushing the boundaries of the imagination with new technology and media forms. Moving beyond pencils, ink, and brushes, Android develops latent possibilities within software programs such as Painter, Photoshop, ZBrush, and Alchemy, discovering new combinations and uses for tools that exceed the original intentions of their programmers. In Android's live art performances, including the acclaimed Phadroid dance performances with wife Phaedra Ana, he incorporates elements of chance and improvisation, inviting synchronicities that additionally exceed the individual artist's intentions and allow for unscripted moments of beauty to shine through.

As an experience designer, Android has contributed to films, games, and to building communities through www.conceptart.org and www.dreamcatcher.net, and his interactive installations have enchanted tens of thousands of participants at events like Boom and Burning Man. Viewing the digital domain as a medium of energy and light capable of expanding the nature of reality, Android's art encourages others to explore the potential interfaces of mind and machine in this time of accelerating change and increasing novelty. To this end, Android's art serves two related functions: it bears witness to realities accessible through heightened states of consciousness, and it also engenders heightened awareness through the processes of creation and audience interaction. Digital art becomes a tool for navigating reality and human awareness, and Android's art invites others to join the advancing evolution of consciousness by speaking to the artist in everyone. http://www.androidjones.com

Bubbles and Bivalves

Thursday, May 17, 2012
7:00pm - 9:30pm
The Aquarium of the Bay, The Embarcadero & Beach Street, San Francisco

Join The Watershed Project, host Wendy Tokuda, and James Beard
Award-winning author Paul Greenberg for oysters, champagne, libations,
and hors d'oeuvres from the Bay Area's finest sustainable restaurants,
wineries, and breweries. Learn about our native oysters while helping
restore the critical underwater ecosystems of our magnificent San
Francisco Bay!

Oysters were once ubiquitous in the San Francisco Bay. Unfortunately,
due to ecosystem degradation, the native oyster population has
plummeted over the last 150 years. The Watershed Project's Living
Shoreline Program educates youth and adults about the importance and
benefits of oyster reefs as an essential part of our ecosystem.
